All Work And No Play Means You’re Not In Ferndale

Earlier I talked about skiing at Mt. Baker, golfing one of the many courses, including the course at Sandy Point, Whatcom County is noted for or, the many other sporting options available within a short drive of Ferndale’s downtown. But you don’t even have to leave Ferndale’s city limits to enjoy some unique recreational opportunities.

In Pioneer Park, for example, you’ll find one of the best, and largest, collections of original pioneer log cabins in the Northwest. Eleven log cabins, built by the early pioneers of Whatcom County, have been saved from the ravages of time, moved to Pioneer Park, filled with authentic relics representing early life in the county, and made available for festivals and other events throughout the year; or how about a 624 acre wetlands and riparian area interpretive center with a 50’ tower allowing nearly unparalleled observation of the waterfowl drawn to the area by the lake; or a fragrance garden with more than 200 plants visitors are encouraged to touch and smell or…
Well, we will talk about those opportunities in the future but for now, if you want to get far away from it all in Whatcom County but, want to be minutes from everything, consider Ferndale, my home town.
